Education
Many young people with Parkinson’s would assume that because they are ‘disabled’ they don’t have the ability to study. Many Universities in Australia actually have Disability Liaison Officers who work personally with you to help adapt your study requirements, and implement special needs.
Students with disabilities may be eligible to receive extra time for assignments or exams, parking privileges and lenient attendance requirements.Centrelink can also help financially for people with disabilities wishing to undertake study or training. If you receive a Disability Support Pension and you are studying, you may also be eligible for a Pensioner Education Supplement (PES). Contact Centrelink for more details.
