What are the Aims of Parkinson’s SA?
Providing direct services to assist people with Parkinson’s and their families in coping with management problems arising from the condition.
Providing information on Parkinson’s and community resources which are available to people with Parkinson’s, their families and other involved people.
Educating health professionals about managing Parkinson’s.
Promoting public awareness through community education.
The main challenge for people with Parkinson’s is to manage their condition so they can enjoy a full life. Parkinson’s SA aims to help people to do this.
What do we offer?
A newsletter maintains regular contact with our members and informs them about various aspects of maintaining Parkinson’s, as well as the activities of the organization.
Information – a wide range of library material, leaflets and other printed information is also available.
Education – seminars, workshops and conferences help educate people living with Parkinson’s and health professionals about management of the condition.
Videos – a variety of videos dealing with many aspects of Parkinson’s are available from our organization for loan or purchase.
Individual and family support – counseling and support are available for people living with Parkinson’s.
Group support – regional groups meet regularly throughout the state.
Information about, and referral to, other community services. Parkinson’s SA has minimal staff supported by enthusiastic volunteers.
New members are always encouraged to drop in and make use of the organisations resources.
The organization cannot give advice on medical matters and treatment, but works closely with medical advisors and other professionals.
